Marlink installs VSAT on VLCC
(Sep 11 2009)
Marlink has become the first VSAT provider to receive Japanese radio license approval for its Sealink(T) VSAT solution.
The license comes via Intelsat International Systems, owner of the satellites used by Sealink(T).
Having issued a radio license to Intelsat, the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has approved the Sealink(T) SES, which will enable the Sealink(T) VSAT to be installed on board Nissho Shipping’s VLCC, 'Nichihiko'.
Once installed, the VLCC will become the first Japanese flag tanker to be installed with a VSAT solution with SES approved by the MIC.
In addition, Marlink will install its Sealink(T) services on board three other tankers managed by Nissho Odyssey Ship Management, the Singapore-based shipmanagement arm of Nissho Shipping.
